Richard Patrick Itaba, a Tanzanian national born on 27 July 1984, holds two diplomas in Animal Health and Production from Mpwapwa Livestock Training Institute and a certificate in Biology, Chemistry, and Agriculture from Kibiti High School. His educational background includes certificates from Nyampulukano Secondary School and Kakobe Primary School.

Richard has 20 years of community-based work experience, including a role as a Livestock Officer II at Mkuranga District Council (2009-2017) and a tutor for Tanzania Animal Welfare Society (2015-2016). Since 2017, he has been the Country Coordinator for Tanzania Humane Charity (TAHUCHA), managing programs in Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania, and working closely with a state veterinarian.

Internationally, Richard has been involved in several training programs and workshops related to animal welfare, including those with The Donkey Sanctuary UK and various capacity-building workshops across Africa and the USA. He is also a board member of Tanzania Humane Charity and the Women Veterinarians Foundation, and has been engaged in research-based work.

Richard is fluent in Kiswahili and English, proficient in Microsoft Office, and an active member of the Tanzania Veterinary Paraprofessionals (TAVEPA).
