The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar is committed to implementing major reforms in the agriculture sector, aiming to transform traditional farming into a profitable business. These reforms are designed to enhance the value chain from the farm to the consumer, ensuring that every participant benefits. This initiative is crucial for integrating various sectors such as trade, industry, water, tourism, and energy, and it will positively impact our national economy.

In the livestock sector, the government is undertaking a large-scale project to revolutionize milk production for smallholder farmers. This project, costing 7.5 billion with an option to extend from IFAD, aims to improve the milk value chain, enhance community livelihoods, and strengthen food and nutrition security.

The project is being implemented with the active participation of smallholder farmers, legal authorities, districts, and regions. We encourage all stakeholders to support and actively participate in this initiative for the development of our country.
